Shaped like a grey wolf (Canis lupus), the silver-cast statue rises up from the coin's surface to convey the wild canine's strength as it steps across the varied terrain. The gold plating enhances the carefully sculptured details that give the statuette a life-like quality, including the varying texture of the fur and the famously strong jaw that is lifted towards the sky to release that iconic howl.
