Design: Designed by artist Tony Bianco, your coin is an artistic interpretation of the storybook ballet, The Sleeping Beauty. The vertical image of a ballerina performing the role of Princess Aurora is backed by a fairy-tale pattern of roses and leaves, which are struck incuse. Selective colour highlights the roses and the ballerina’s ornate costume. The reverse includes the engraved words “CANADA” and the bilingual title of the ballet, “LA BELLE AU BOIS DORMANT THE SLEEPING BEAUTY”. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
