Design: Designed by Jason Sikoak, an Inuk artist originally from Kikiak/Rigolet, Nunatsiavut, N.L., your coin’s reverse features the artist’s interpretation of the Inuit concepts of interconnectedness and coexistence with nature. Returning from the mud flats where the tide is rising, a Canada goose (Branta canadensis) —one of Canada’s most recognizable migratory species—is positioned in the foreground, where its flight alludes to the coming change of season that is part of nature’s cycle. Below, a family waits to catch the rising tide, having travelled by boat to gather their winter stores of akpik (cloudberries), which are plentiful enough to attract other species, including the black bear appearing on the far-off shore near the edge of the forest. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
