Design: This dollar recognizes the 100th anniversary of the completion of the Library of Parliament. This part of the Parliament Buildings was the only part that was saved during the 1916 fire. The library is still in use, and is a popular tourist destination.

Packaging: The coin came in two different types of clam shell cases. The first is a black leatherette clam style case, Coat of Arms, maroon & black insert, and encapsulated coin. The second is a Blue clam shell case with a light blue insert with purple cloth printed "Library of Parliament - Bibliotheeque du Parlement 1876-1976"
