"The Canadiens' trademark red jersey may have made its debut in 1913, but the 1915-16 season marked the first appearance of the accompanying blue stripe across the chest and arms. This symbolic jersey made its debut the year the Canadiens went on to claim their first Stanley Cup championship in the spring of 1916, defeating the Portland Rosebuds three games to two. The following season, the team officially changed its name to "LeClub de hockey Canadien" and adopted a jersey look that remains relatively unchanged to this day."
