"The "Club de hockey le Canadien" was founded on December 4, 1909, as a part of the National Hockey Association, one of the forerunners to the NHL. This was the jersey worn on January 5, 1910, when the Canadiens played their first-ever gone at the Jubilee Arena in Montreal, a 7-6 overtime victory over the Cobalt Silver Kings. Used for only one season, this jersey was worn by such greats as Newsy Lalonde and Jack Laviolette, first captain in club history."
